Day 26 - a song that you can play on an instrument Nothing, I was not fortunate enough to be gifted as musically talented. Whatevs, I still know good music dude.
Day 27 - a song that you wish you could play "Lost in the World (featuring Bon Iver)" by Kanye West and "In God's Hands" by Nelly Furtado
OK so I know both of these songs are kinda unusual but I find so much beauty and meaning behind these two artists. I have to say that in my mind if you want reflective, deep-meaning pop music these days Nelly Furtado and Kanye West are the two to turn to for consistently churning out top 40 pop that never compromises their views and beliefs as an individual. Seriously, the two deepest and brightest mainstream artists we have come across in the current scene. Cannot wait to see what comes out of them next.
Day 28 - a song that makes you feel guilty Any song from Ms. Britney Spears
I'm well aware of why I feel guilty about listening to Britney Spears and it has a lot to do with the way that people make snap judgements on people that enjoy her music...but I'm slowly getting over that. I was always a casual fan of hers until her return to the spotlight in 2007 with the still sorely underrated brilliancy that is Blackout. In fact, that is where I went from a casual fan to a stan. I know that everybody says this about their faves, but her music is seriously very distinctibve and different than what else is out there today in the pop scene. I love that she's "fearless" as a collaborating music producer once described her as, and either intentionally or unintentionally helps the sound of pop music progress onto the next step or trend. I love the work she has done with Danja, The Outsiders, etc. and eagerly look forward to her album out at the end of the month...the music video for "Hold it Against Me" also reaffirmed my affection for her superstardom.
I also feel guilty listening to her because she's very much pop music and I like listening to little known/underappreciated indies. IDK IDK.
Day 29 - a song from your childhood"Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba
IDK..but this was the first song that came to mind when I saw Day 29...good times.
Day 30 - your favorite song at this time last year "Bounce" / "Take my Hand" / "I'll Run" by The Cab
I totally forgot about these guys but I loved them last year around this time. I cannot wait until they come out with new music, they're a really good underappreciated band and their stuff is catchy as heck. Check them out, they're amazing.
