This week was the week that I checked out of recent releases that I have bought, but haven't really actually listened to. I checked out Jessie Ware's debut album and while it was nice and everything, I wasn't as blown away by it as you'd think based on the growing hype from the U.K. Also I checked out Demi Lovato's newest release and liked it a lot - it was the perfect mix of generic pop music and deeper songs. The new album by Little Boots, Nocturnal is very EDM and very easy to access and enjoy. I guess you have to be in the mood for it or to like that typ of musdic (which I do, to a point...) but it was a very strong and awesome album with little to any fillers in this 10-track album. Last thing to note was the fact that Mariah Carey's lead single off her upcoming studio album, "#Beautiful" featuring Miguel, debuted and it is amazing - I love it so, so, so much.
What I Watched
'The Great Gatsby'
I had never read the actual book, but I have been anticipating and waiting for it since I started seeing trailers for it and it was originally slated for release last Christmas. I've always been a fan of Leonardo and Baz Luhrmann and it looked so amazing and visually stunning so I had a lot of expectations and they were met tenfold - beautifully acted and beautifully shot and produced. I love it. I think I'll even check it outy a second time which would be the first film this summer to have recieved that honor this year so far.
